Thank You Ray Kroc…and Whoever Invented Spring Break

As you probably could guess from Kiel’s last post, we did finally meet up, although, I’m not sure we’re any safer.  Anyway, I was able to get an email from Kiel asking to meet up at McDonald’s (the only landmark we would both surely know), which was basically right across the street from the hotel where I was unceremoniously dropped off the night before. Oddly, he sent the email from McDonald’s, where there is free Wi-Fi, not knowing I was two minutes away. Continue reading

“Is he pointing his gun at me?”

“Is he pointing his gun at me?” I asked Paul, not 10 minutes into our drive around Mazatlan Mx.  Now by gun I mean automatic rifle, and by him I mean GI I Joe, Cobra Commander, full on SWAT style Mexican Military Officer, with the mask and goggles and all.  I figured I was driving the wrong way down a one way street for the 4th time (the 3 times were unmarked roads I swear!), but no, this time I was going the right way, and at the same time straight towards 3 trucks full of these guys with automatic rifles.  Continue reading

Oh Cabo, My Cabo

Odd, I was just here a few months ago. Back again though, and not a moment too soon. After breaking my lease, selling my car (thanks Timm!), tossing/donating a ton of crap I didn’t need and selling my broken down couch to a Guatemalan in a beat up old pickup truck, I’ve become a free man unencumbered by most of life’s trappings. Welcome

Welcome to 2guys1f@#….ok lets try this again.  Welcome, to 2guys1…minivan??  Yup, as you will see on this trip plans change, and it is important to be flexible.  Decided a truck wasn’t the best option for our needs. For the next 6 months to 80 years we will be driving around Central and South America in our 2004 Chevy Astro Van. We hope to use this site to provide useful information for others looking to embark on similar travels. We will provide info regarding the places we visit, general costs, the routes we take, and anything else that may be of interest. We encourage you all to sign up for the email auto notification, which is spam free, and will notify you automatically when we add new posts to the site  This will make it easier for both you, and us, as we will not be updating the blog often due to lack of internet availability/laziness.  We appreciate you following along and hope you enjoy the trip.

UPDATE:  I left Paul in Mexico to backpack his way through South America, and had temporarily returned to the US.  He fell behind schedule and was forced to skip places I wanted to see.  The posts for our trip are listed under “01 Trial-Run Mexico” in the destinations panel, the remaining sections are my solo trip.
