Downed trees, rocks, fires in the road, and people everywhere…finally some real adventure.

Further along my return trip I stopped in Ocosingo for lunch, but it was a mad house so I had to park a couple blocks from where any food joints were.  I haven’t spent much time in this town so it was a good excuse to walk around a bit more, but it was hot and I had all my gear on so only did so much exploring.  From here it is an easy ride to San Cristobal and I would be there in no time, or so I thought….  Churro and I are cruising along when we arrive to some kind of scene.  There are cars lined up parked on the road, and a couple trees are down.  Oh shit, since it is Chiapas it is clear this is a protest.  I am close to San Cristobal at this point, so pull up to see what the deal is.  The guy in charge immediately tells me I am not getting through.

Back to the Yucatan

Ok, right on schedule….where were we?

I almost skipped the yucatan my 1st time on mainland Mexico, and was pleasantly surprised with what I found. There was plenty to hate, like the long boring straight roads, and of course the heat. I took a small road through Tabasco, mainly because I wasn’t sure I had ever been through Tabascio previously.  It was pretty flat and open, nothing to thrilling….though Churro and I did find an appropriately painted church considering easter was in a few day.  Later we then found a stall on the side of the road selling some salchipapas…..and you know I can’t pass up salchipapas.  Yup, Semana Santa was about to kick off so I was moving quicker than I would like, but I was on my friends vacation schedule now, so on we pushed.  I headed for Campeche, I was extremely bored with this city on my previous trip, but it is pretty, a good sized city, and located as a decent stopping point.  Well, once again I was bored to death.

So despite being deep in Mexico on non-stop adventures I stopped posting up the story here because I got bored with the whole blog thing again, but recently someone I never met contacted me asking travel questions and mentioning they were confused because I had been talking about xmas yet the blog had last years date (which was also xmas). Well yeah you must be knew here sir, I am always behind…..but that reminds me, this IS the greatest blog in the multiverse, and I need to keep the addicts happy. Luckily I posted elsewhere so with a quick copy/paste you get a block of adventure all at once. Ok so we still are not completely caught up, but take what you can get you filthy animals. Merry Xmas.
